The Department of Foreign Languages has a long-standing German major, and is looking to hire a one-year Instructor of German, with the ability to teach a second subject in the department or the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. The program boasts an exchange program with Bayreuth, and benefits from affiliated programs across campus as well as one of the first post-WWII sister-cities established with Hof, Germany.

Job Duties:

 

 

  • Teach courses in German within the Department of Foreign Languages.
  • Ability to teach courses in a second area within the department or college.
  • Design and deliver course materials, and assess them appropriately.
  • Maintain ongoing scholarship or potential for scholarship.

 


Required Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • Master’s degree in German or related field.
  • Evidence of excellent language teaching at the college level (e.g., course evaluations, teaching portfolio).
  • Native or near-native proficiency in German and English.

 


Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • Ph.D. degree in German Studies or related field.
  • Experience or training in ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
  • An ability to teach a subject within German for Professional Purposes.
