Visiting Assistant Professor in Contemporary Latin American Literature and Culture in Spanish

The Spanish department at Colby College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Contemporary Latin American Literature and Culture. The position begins August 2022. The successful applicant will have a PhD in Spanish by August 1, 2022, native or near-native command of Spanish, and extensive experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching language and contemporary Latin American cultural production. The search committee is especially interested in a candidate whose teaching and scholarship demonstrate experience with the interdisciplinary practices and methodologies of cultural studies, who has an interest in new and emergent types of literary and artistic expression in Latin America, and whose work engages with Afro-Indigeneity, Afro-latinidades, or discourses of race in contemporary Latin America. The strongest candidate for this position will also have demonstrated ability to teach language courses at all levels. The position requires 5 courses per year (language and cultural production), an ongoing program of research, and the willingness to contribute to the intellectual life of the college.
