Teaching five in-person and online language courses at the beginning and intermediate levels per academic year and supervising the language program instruction.  The successful candidate will be given two course releases in the fall semester for supervision of German language instruction and new instructor pre-service and during the semester teacher training. In the spring semester, the candidate will be given one course release to offset duties involving language instruction supervision.

Language instruction supervision duties include: overall supervision of GTAs and lecturers, conducting weekly team meeting, supervising quizzes, exams, special projects in 1000-level language courses, GTA teaching observations, updating Carmen-Canvas Master course shells for language courses, conducting new GTA pre-service workshop, and developing and contributing to additional materials when needed.

Required qualifications: PhD in German Applied Linguistics or related fields; native or near-native fluency in German; record of excellence in teaching at all college levels of German language and culture; strong understanding of current best practices in world language pedagogy; experience with current instructional technologies and online language teaching; willingness and ability to teach either in-person or online as needed; commitment to curricular innovation; ability to work collegially and effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as foster an inclusive classroom and working environment.
