The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida invites applications for a one-year Visiting Lecturer position in Spanish Applied Linguistics beginning August 16, 2022. This is a nine-month, non-tenure-accruing position.
Responsibilities of the position are to teach three courses in the Fall 2022 and three courses in the Spring 2023 semester in the area of Spanish Applied Linguistics. One of the Fall 2022 semester courses will be a graduate seminar related to Spanish language acquisition; the level and content of the other courses will be determined in consideration of departmental need and the chosen candidate’s expertise.
The ideal candidate will have: a Ph.D. Hispanic Linguistics or closely related field, with a specialization in applied linguistics; native or native-like fluency in English and Spanish; demonstrated excellence as a teacher; experience teaching college-level Hispanic linguistics courses; and a strong commitment to working with diverse populations.
Additional desirable qualities include expertise in second/foreign language acquisition; and experience teaching graduate seminars.
