Visiting Assistant Professor, English

Fairfield University’s Department of English invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses in Postcolonial and Global Anglophone literatures. Upper division courses focus on the candidate’s area of specialization while introductory courses could include Contemporary World Literature, Introduction to Literature and Cultural Studies, Ethnic American Literature, Literature of the African Diaspora, and/or Contemporary Women Writers of Color. We also welcome candidates to propose introductory level courses based on their areas of specialization. The position has the potential to be renewed for up to three years contingent on performance reviews and funding approvals.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in English or other relevant field in hand by August 2022. An ability to teach courses in Literary Theory or Cultural Studies Theory is also especially welcome. The candidate should be prepared to demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching and show promise of scholarly contributions to the field. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 course load, most likely as two sections of two different courses (i.e., two course preparations).
