FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The English Department of the City College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in English Composition to begin in Fall 2022. A Hispanic Serving Institution located in Harlem, New York City, with one of the most diverse student
populations in the U.S., the College strongly encourages applications from candidates from groups underrepresented in the field of higher education.
The successful candidate will work alongside full-time and adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Department’s first-year composition program and its learning communities. Above all, applicants should have a proven record of success teaching composition at the college level. Lecturers participate as full faculty members of the Department, occupying faculty lines focused almost entirely on teaching, with no research requirement or expectation. Lecturers teach 24 credits per year. Service requirements include participation in portfolio assessment and faculty development, conducting classroom observations, serving on committees
(especially those focused on teaching, learning and assessment), and other contributions to the ongoing intellectual and pedagogical life of the Department. Administrative service with reassigned time, as available, may reduce teaching responsibilities. This position represents an
investment by the College in maximizing first-year students’ contact with full-time faculty. In their fifth year, Lecturers are eligible for a Certificate of Continuous employment (tenure-like status).

Job Requirements
- 24 credit hours of teaching per year, particularly the Department’s ENGL 110/210 courses
- Service to the department as described
- Service to the College and University commensurate with that performed by other full-time faculty

pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in eight schools and divisions, driven by significant funded research, creativity, and scholarship. CCNY is as diverse, dynamic, and visionary as
