Comparative Media Studies/Writing at MIT is seeking full or part-time lecturers to teach creative non-fiction writing and undergraduate fiction writing classes. Responsibilities include providing all individual students with written critical commentary, holding office hours, thesis advising, participation in educational activities, using the Canvas course management system, and other duties as assigned. Applicants should specify which of the following positions in which they are interested.
(1) Creative Non-fiction Writing: Lecturers will teach such subjects as Writing and Reading the Essay, Intersectional Feminist Memoir, Writing about Race, Voice and Meaning: Speaking to Readers through Memoir, or Advanced Essay Workshop. (2) Ficion Writing: Lecturers will teach such subjects as Writing & Reading Short Stories, Fiction Workshop, and Advanced Fiction Workshop. Applicants should be writers who publish literary and genre fiction (science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, horror, Afrofuturism and other Futurisms). Applicants should have experience teaching at the college or university level and should have an MFA in creative writing, the equivalent terminal degree, or the equivalent publication history.
