The Dominican University Department of Spanish Language and Transcultural Studies seeks applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Instructor of Spanish for the 2022-2023 academic year. The candidate must be able to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses. Responsibilities consists of teaching 3 courses per semester, advising, and service to the department; participation in university life is encouraged.

 

Required qualifications:

 

Successful candidates will have at least a Masters or ABD status, Ph.D. (preferred) in Spanish. Candidates must show native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, and strong commitment to liberal arts education. Dominican seeks candidates who are committed to working with diverse student and community populations.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

Preference to those with expertise in Latinx and Latin American Studies, teaching heritage speakers of Spanish, or in research on heritage language learning and curriculum development.
