Assistant Teaching Professor in German

The Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages & Literatures at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position in German (non-tenure-line-track). This is a limited-term, 36-week appointment (two academic semesters) beginning Fall 2022 with possibility of renewal. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and intermediate language courses, and may include advanced undergraduate literature and linguistics courses. The area of specialization remains open, though applicants working on the Holocaust, race, and German colonial history are especially welcome.

Education and Experience: Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in German and English and hold a doctorate in German or related field. Applications from individuals with prior teaching experience will be given priority. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

Salary is commensurate with experience and includes benefits. All courses will be taught in person at the University Park campus.
