VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN GLOBAL HISPANOPHONE STUDIES

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California Davis invites applications for a 1-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Global Hispanophone Studies appointment effective 7/1/2022. Research should focus on Latin American, Iberian and/or Transoceanic cultural production. We welcome interests in any of the following areas: anti-colonialism, digital cultures, intersectionality, social justice, and critical race studies.  The appointee must possess evidence of scholarly promise and successful teaching experience in both literature and cultural studies courses. Applicants should possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish and have experience teaching upper division courses. 

The appointee will be expected to teach a broad range of graduate and undergraduate courses on Latin American, transoceanic and/or Iberian cultural production. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional promise as a scholar and teacher and have the ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the department who are working on qualifying exams, honors theses, and doctoral dissertations.  A PhD in Spanish and/or related field is required prior to the first day of classes on September 21, 2022.   For full consideration, applications should be received by June 12, 2022.
