Assistant Professor - English

The Department of English at Worcester State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in British literature of the long nineteenth century to begin September 1, 2020. Secondary areas of interest could include: queer theory/gender and sexuality studies, cultural studies, transatlantic approaches, 18th- and 19th-century discourses of race and empire, British modernism. We welcome candidates with innovative approaches to the field. 

Candidates should be prepared to offer introductory and upper-division courses in their area(s) of expertise and to teach first-year composition. Teaching load is 4-4, with two first-year writing courses (including first-year seminars) per semester. Tenure-track faculty may have the further opportunity to teach in the graduate and summer programs. We seek candidates with a commitment to public higher education and to teaching and mentoring students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a Ph.D., completed by August 31, 2020.
