WILLIAMS COLLEGE, Williamstown MA 01267. The Department of Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Williams College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Japanese, beginning in the fall of 2023. We seek someone who can teach all levels of Japanese language courses as well as disciplinary courses in the candidate’s specialization, which can include literature, cultural studies, linguistics, or any related field. The teaching load will consist of four courses per year plus a Winter Study Period course every other year.

Candidates should have a Ph.D., or all requirements for the Ph.D. degree, completed by September 2023. All offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a background check. Qualifications
Minimum requirements include Ph.D. in Japanese literature, cultural studies, linguistics or a related field. Candidates should have native or near-native proficiency in Japanese, strong teaching experience at the college level, and ability to teach all levels of language courses either independently or collaboratively. Experience in team-teaching and teacher training preferred.
