Assistant Teaching Professor - Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition

The Syracuse University Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition announces multiple appointments for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor. These full-time, non-tenure-track positions are hired on a renewable, three-year contract with full benefits and potential promotion opportunities. Ph.D. with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition or a related field required, with at least two years’ experience teaching college-level writing. No remote opportunities are available.

Position responsibilities will include teaching four courses per semester primarily in introductory writing but could also include upper-division writing. Faculty are expected to adhere to the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the pedagogical approach to student learning. Additional administrative duties as assigned by department chair, including but not limited to professional development participation, advising, and committee service. Salary is competitive.
