The Department of Russian invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Russian, tenure-track, to begin in Fall 2023. The position entails teaching Russian language at all levels and courses in English on Russian culture and literature. Research specialization is open; we especially encourage applications from scholars interested in teaching topics relating to empire, post-coloniality, gender, race or ethnicity, and who can help make our curriculum more inclusive of marginalized perspectives and experiences. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to teach Russian language, literature and culture, possess native or near-native fluency in Russian and English, and have experience and great enthusiasm for teaching language at the undergraduate level. The typical teaching load will be 2 courses in the fall semester, 2 courses in the spring semester, plus 1 Winter Term course in every other year, teaching the four week intensive continuation of Beginning Russian. The new colleague will also have the opportunity to contribute to the college-wide curriculum, including teaching a first year seminar.
