The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business is accepting applications for a non-tenure track faculty position teaching business communications. The successful candidate will begin job responsibilities in August 2023 at the starting rank of clinical assistant professor, with the opportunity to promote to clinical associate professor (and, later, clinical professor) after a record of success at the clinical assistant professor level. This position's primary focus will be teaching business communications classes to undergraduate business students.
In Business Communications classes, students learn rhetorical considerations of audience, purpose, and genre awareness and apply them to business-related writing tasks such as letters, emails, white papers, and reports. These classes approach writing as an entry point to other communication skills, incorporating oral and nonverbal communication. Students develop skills in delivering presentations, team building, and interviewing.
The typical teaching load will be four courses in the fall semester and three in the spring. The spring course release will allow time to devote to research. In addition to fulfilling teaching responsibilities, applicants should demonstrate an interest in and an aptitude for presenting and publishing research related to business communications. The Information Systems and Business Analytics Department supports faculty development and research through generous academic and professional conferences funding. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. We celebrate diverse perspectives and recognize them as essential for effective business communication. We welcome applicants with diverse positionalities, including those from historically underrepresented groups.
