Continuing Lecturer in French and Francophone Studies

The Department of French and Francophone Studies at Carleton College invites applications for a two-year renewable appointment to begin September 1, 2023, at the rank of full-time continuing Lecturer. Responsibilities include training and supervision of undergraduate Language Assistants (“TAs”) and Tutors, developing the curriculum for the lower-division language courses and TA sessions, and teaching four French language classes annually.

We seek applicants with an engaged, dynamic, and communicative teaching style as well as a strong interest in emerging pedagogical fields in language acquisition. Participation in teaching-related professional activities such as workshops, seminars, and conferences is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in French, with specialization in Language Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, or Applied Linguistics recommended
  • Near-native oral and written communication in French and English
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Familiarity with latest teaching technologies
