The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Italian and Italian Diaspora Studies to begin in academic year 2023-4 to teach all levels of Italian language as well as literature and culture.
Qualifications:
- The candidate should have a doctorate in Italian or comparative literature with a specialization in Italian. Period and area of expertise for this position are open, but the department is particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research can enhance the interdisciplinary curriculum.
- The candidate should have expertise in second language pedagogy and significant experience teaching Italian language, literature and culture on the undergraduate level
- The candidate should have a record of presentations and publications consistent with the rank of Assistant Professor
- The ability to teach a second language is highly preferred

- Cover letter that describes teaching interests, areas of expertise, and scholarly experience in the relevant fields
- Statement of teaching philosophy: no more than 500 words explaining how the candidate has approached or would approach the courses they teach
