Assistant Professor

The Department of French and Francophone Studies at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2023 in theater and/or performance studies, with other possible subfields in visual studies, new media, and ecocriticism. Research in 19th-Century French and Francophone Studies would also be considered an asset. The position includes the directorship of the internationally respected Institut d’Avignon. Administrative experience, especially in study abroad programs, is desired, but not required. Candidates must have demonstrated teaching excellence and should expect to teach at all levels of our curriculum (including language courses and graduate seminars for our AB/MA program).  The successful candidate will be expected to be part of developing and teaching a diverse and inclusive curriculum, including interdisciplinary programs and other college-wide initiatives such as the 360 Program and the Emily Balch Seminars. Native or near-native fluency in French required. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the start date.
