Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing

Ursinus College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor appointment in the English & Creative Writing Department with a specialty in poetry writing. The successful candidate will be a poet with outstanding credentials and/or promise; will have skills and experience in digital and hybrid media; and will be eager to teach courses in literature as well as creative writing. We are especially interested in a colleague who is enthusiastic about partnering with Enrollment to recruit for the college’s Creative Writing Scholarships. The appointment, beginning August 2023, carries a 3/2 teaching load and the expectation of an active, ongoing agenda for creative production and publication, along with a serious commitment to undergraduate teaching. We welcome candidates who would contribute to one or more of the college’s interdisciplinary programs, including but not limited to African American & Africana Studies; Latin American Studies; Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies or Digital Studies. Teaching responsibilities include upper- and lower-division classes in the English department as well as the college’s signature year-long first-year seminar, the Common Intellectual Experience. We seek candidates who are comfortable with student-centered learning and able to work closely with students on independent projects.

Qualifications

Ph.D. and/or MFA expected by fall 2023.
