Lecturer in German

The Boston University Department of World Languages and Literatures (WLL) invites applicants for a full-time position as Lecturer in German to begin July 1, 2020. Responsibilities include teaching all levels of German from beginning through advanced, as well as active participation in curricular development, student recruitment, co-curricular offerings, and collaboration with other language faculty. Teaching load is three courses per semester. This is a non-tenure-track appointment for an initial two-year period, renewable for an additional multi-year periods contingent upon successful performance reviews. 


Required qualifications are an advanced degree (MA or PhD) in German, Applied Linguistics, second-language acquisition, foreign language pedagogy, or a relevant field; native or near-native fluency in German and English; substantial experience and demonstrated excellence in college-level German language teaching using proficiency-based, communicative methodologies and assessments; leadership and administrative ability; familiarity with the North American higher education system; and experience using technology in the language classroom.
