Position Summary 
The English and Cultural Studies Department at Bryant University invites applications for an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Writing Workshop. This full-time, tenure-track position involves administration, teaching (2/2), and research. It offers a competitive salary with full benefits. The appointment for this position begins August 1, 2023.

Principal Accountabilities

The Coordinator oversees the required first-year Writing Seminar course. Administrative responsibilities include curricular development, faculty hiring and mentoring, student advising, program development, and assessment. Based in the Department of English and Cultural Studies, the Coordinator works closely with the Director of General Education in implementing the first-year General Education curriculum. In addition, the Coordinator teaches two sections of the first-year writing course per semester and pursues an active research agenda in composition studies and/or pedagogy. The position also requires contributing to student growth and development through active involvement in student related activities (e.g., research mentorship and departmental advising). Other service to the department and the university is expected.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications


A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or similar area or a Ph.D. in English with research focus in composition is required. Experience administrating a college writing program is preferred. The successful candidate will show evidence of innovative teaching and curriculum development. Desirable areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, composition theory; multilingual writing and rhetoric; and multimodal composition. Certain requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate persons with disabilities.
