The Department of Race, Ethnic, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (REGSS) seeks a candidate at the rank of Assistant Professor who holds a Ph.D. in Critical Ethnic Studies, Critical Indigenous Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, or related fields, and whose scholarship and teaching reflect developing trends in these areas. The successful applicant will teach core courses and electives at all levels in two distinct programs–Race and Ethnic Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies–housed within REGSS. A full-time teaching load at St. Olaf includes six courses per year. An ability to connect teaching and scholarship to engage communities both on and off campus, with responsibility and integrity, is desired. Applicants with interests in decoloniality, queer studies, and critical trans studies are especially encouraged to apply.
Candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Critical Ethnic Studies, Critical Indigenous Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, or related fields, and whose scholarship and teaching reflect developing trends in these areas are encouraged to apply.
About the Department:
St. Olaf’s newly formed department of Race, Ethnic, Gender and Sexuality Studies houses two academic programs—Race and Ethnic Studies and Gender and Sexuality Studies—each with its own curriculum. Backed by 100 years of combined curricular strength and interdisciplinary innovation, RACE and GSS share commitments to critical indigenous studies, critical race and ethnicities theories, feminist critique, intersectionality, lived experiences, postcoloniality and decolonial knowledge production, and queer and critical masculinities critique.

8. The contact information for three professional references who can speak to your abilities in teaching and scholarship (St. Olaf solicits letters directly after an initial round of screening.)
