The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (rank will be based on experience) position in Japanese language beginning July 1, 2023. Initial one-year probationary contract with possible renewal, contingent upon merit, the continued needs of the department, and availability of program funding.
Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree and Native and near-Native proficiency in both Japanese and English are required, as well as the ability to teach all levels of Japanese along with prior minimum 3 years of college-level teaching experience. Also required are an explicit understanding of the linguistic properties of Japanese; knowledge of the cultural background necessary to teach the language, technology-related pedagogy and flexibility in using different teaching methodologies; and the ability to work both in a team and autonomously at all levels of the language.
