DESCRIPTION:
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Mount Union seeks a full-time, tenure-track, Japanese Language faculty member (Assistant or Associate) to both teach Japanese language courses and direct the Japanese Language Program, beginning August 2023. The academic rank of the successful candidate will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching, program leadership, and professional activities. Teaching responsibilities include courses from elementary to advanced Japanese as well as various content courses. The successful candidate will direct the Japanese Program, which includes, among other duties, developing and implementing recruitment activities, advising students, and mentoring teaching licensure candidates. Other responsibilities include professional development and scholarly activity, as well as service to the Department, the University, and the greater community. Native or near-native competence in Japanese and English is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Japanese, Japanese literature and culture, Japanese language pedagogy, or in a related field. Undergraduate teaching experience is required.
