Visiting Assistant Professor of German

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Lehigh University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of German, for the spring semester 2023, with the strong likelihood (contingent on satisfactory performance and continuing department needs) of renewal for the academic year 2023-2024.  Applicants in the field of modern or contemporary German literature and culture are encouraged to apply.  An ABD status is expected at the time of employment, a PhD is desirable.  Native or near-native fluency in both German and English is required.  A commitment to German language instruction at all levels (elementary, intermediate, and advanced German) is essential.  Additionally, candidates should be able to teach literature and culture courses to undergraduates, in German and in English, and contribute courses to the Film Studies and Global Studies programs.  The teaching load is three courses per semester.
