Position Introduction
The Department of English at Vassar College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in early American literatures and cultures to 1865. Areas of particular interest include Native American Literature; colonialism and contact, and hemispheric American studies; and Asian American literature. This position will start in August 2023.

Position Description
Teaching in the first year is four courses. In ensuing years, it will be five courses or four courses plus a group tutorial. The successful candidate will bring a fresh perspective and energy to their research, pedagogy, and advising.
We welcome applicants who link the study of early American literatures and cultures to interdisciplinary research areas, such as Indigenous ecologies and cultures, environmental humanities, transnational and transatlantic studies, digital humanities, and media studies.
