Additional publications or teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas would be a plus: creative nonfiction, screenwriting, African American literature, Latinx literature, Native American literature, Asian American literature, and/or environmental literature and writing.
This hire will enable us to maintain the high quality of our competitive MFA program and our popular, growing creative writing concentration in the English major. The new hire will develop and maintain relationships with writers who contribute to our visiting writers program; will attract and recruit candidates into our MFA program; will direct fiction theses and serve on thesis committees; will mentor MFA students in writing and teaching; and will teach classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Likely courses include Studies in Fiction, Intermediate and Advanced Fiction Writing, the graduate Workshop in Fiction, and ENG 590, a craft seminar offered to graduate MFA and MA students.
