Assistant Professor of German

The Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position, Assistant Professor in German, starting Fall Semester 2023. This position
has a 3-2 teaching load and will include instruction at all levels of undergraduate German language, literature and culture.


Required qualifications: the successful candidate for this position must be a generalist with a PhD in German (specialization open, e.g., Literature, Linguistics, Film Studies, etc.) in hand by August 16, 2023 and have native or near-native fluency in German and English. Applicants must provide evidence of teaching excellence at the college level and of potential for successful research and scholarly/professional activities. A deep awareness of effective language pedagogies, together with an
interest in study abroad programs and innovative course curricula, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the German program and to participate in extra-curricular activities (such as Stammtisch, German Film Series, German Club, German Honor Society) to help promote enrollment and participation in the German Studies program and concurrent degree program with engineering.


The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
