Job Description
Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a tenure-line position in British, Colonial, and Postcolonial literature in English (excluding the U.S.), after 1800, with an emphasis on prose fiction. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate instruction and mentorship, as well as to teaching across regions (including Britain and Ireland), genres, periods, and critical methodologies. The successful candidate must be in possession of a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. In addition to a letter of application, candidates should submit a C.V., a sample of scholarly work (15-25 pages), two model syllabi, and three confidential recommendations. We encourage candidates to familiarize themselves with the basics of Sarah Lawrence's distinctive pedagogical model, which includes one-on-one tutorials as components of most seminars, and to indicate in their letters how they envision working within this format.​​ Review of application materials will begin on November 1st.
