Assistant Professor of English

Description

Denison University seeks an active poet and experienced teacher for a full-time tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of English. The successful candidate must be able to teach across the genres (including poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction) and to contribute to the English Department’s core creative writing courses and electives within the English major. The annual 3/2 teaching assignment will typically include a multi-genre introductory creative writing course, an advanced creative writing workshop in poetry, introductory and advanced courses of the candidate’s own design, as well as the supervision of small groups of senior creative writing majors on their year-long senior projects. The successful candidate must also have a strong record of publication and an active creative agenda, and they will be expected to contribute service to the department and college community. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the literary traditions of historically marginalized or underrepresented peoples, especially Latinx and/or Native American literatures, and with the potential to contribute to one or more of Denison's interdisciplinary programs.
