Cornell University’s Asian American Studies Program invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor (full-time tenure-track) in Asian American literary studies. The appointment will begin July 1, 2023. Ph.D. required. The candidate will hold a joint appointment in the Asian American Studies Program and the Department of Literatures in English. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to research and teaching in the field of Asian American Studies. We are open to all fields and areas of specialty within Asian American literary studies and are especially enthusiastic about candidates with expertise in Asian American poetics, film/media studies, queer/feminist studies, critical refugee studies, Southeast Asian American studies, critical Pacific Island studies, Asian-Latinx studies, and Afro-Asian studies. We welcome candidates working in comparative, interdisciplinary, and/or transnational frameworks. The doctoral degree must be in hand prior to the appointment, and publishing record or strong potential for publishing is important.
Teaching responsibilities include introductory courses in Asian American studies and Asian American literature, first-year writing seminars, upper-level undergraduate courses, and graduate seminars. Other responsibilities include supervision of doctoral candidates and service to the Asian American Studies Program, the Department of Literatures in English, the College, and the University, appropriate to rank and attentive to the nature of the joint appointment.
