Teaching Assistant Professor of Spanish, Translation and Interpreting

The Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is currently seeking applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor of Spanish to contribute to a growing program in Translation and Interpreting. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 3/3 course load of courses in Spanish, Translation, and Interpreting and for participating in departmental service. Required minimum qualifications are: Ph.D. in Spanish, Hispanic studies or related field at time of employment, native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, record of teaching excellence at the university level, including a demonstrated or potential ability to teach students of diverse experiential and intellectual backgrounds. We especially seek candidates with training or prior experience in translation and interpreting, willingness to participate in curriculum development, and interest in or experience with service learning or community outreach. Candidates with proficiency in an additional language are also especially encouraged to apply.
