Visiting Assistant Professor in British Literature before 1800

The Department of English at Colby College invites applications for a three-year visiting appointment in pre-1800 British Literature, to begin fall 2023. For this position we seek a scholar with demonstrated teaching excellence and strong publications to deepen our offerings in early literature from a range of historical, theoretical, and comparativist perspectives. Candidates might specialize in medieval, early modern, or eighteenth-century literature. We are especially interested in candidates whose work engages the environmental humanities or premodern critical race studies. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the area of specialty, core requirements for majors, and one writing-intensive course for first-year students annually. PhD must be in hand no later than August 2023.
