Assistant Professor, Spanish

Colorado College is hiring an Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese to start August 2023. We are looking for a colleague specializing in Mexican cultures and literatures who can complement our focus on interdisciplinary studies. Areas of expertise sought include, but are not limited to, Critical Indigenous Studies, U.S.-México Border Studies or Diaspora Studies. The successful candidate is a dedicated educator who will be able to teach at all levels of our curriculum, with a focus on language instruction. The candidate is also expected to contribute to our established study abroad programs.

Colorado College is a private, undergraduate, selective liberal arts institution enrolling approximately 2,200 students. One distinguishing feature of Colorado College is the Block Plan, in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time. Each block is three and a half weeks long, allowing for unique teaching and learning strategies. Professors in our Department teach six of the eight blocks in an academic year, including one block dedicated to supervising senior theses, projects and/or Independent Studies. Applicants must be committed to high quality, innovative undergraduate teaching and to mentoring undergraduate student research. Other responsibilities include service to the Department and College as well as active scholarship.
