Assistant Professor of Transpacific Studies

The Department of English at the University of Southern California seeks an assistant professor of transpacific studies, a growing field that focuses on the circulation of culture, capital and ideas in the Pacific and between Asia, the Americas and other Anglophone contexts, to start August 2023. Our department wishes to build on the existing strength of faculty working on transpacific studies across several departments at USC as we search for a junior scholar who will contribute to English and Creative Writing's strengths in literature, media and popular culture, genre studies, and gender and sexuality studies, as well as to possibly increase our commitment to indigenous studies. Given our department's emphasis on the porousness between scholarship and creative writing, we also encourage applications from scholars who write in other genres, and for public audiences (from criticism to creative non-fiction, fiction and poetry). A terminal degree in field is required at time of appointment.
