Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics

The University of Tennessee is seeking an Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics who has specialization in second language acquisition and additional specialization in sociolinguistics; who can teach courses in these areas and in American English and pedagogical grammar; and who has experience with and/or strong interest in helping administer an ESL program on a rotational basis, including support for the larger L2 population on campus. We are a “Doctoral/Research Extensive” institution, with a departmental endowment that supports research. The department offers the BA, MA, MFA, and PhD. Professors teach a 2/2 load, distributed across undergraduate and graduate courses. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Candidates should have: (1) Ph.D. in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field, in hand or expected by August 2023; (2) record of excellent teaching; (3) scholarship warranting appointment at the Assistant Professor rank; and (4) active research agenda.
