Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing: Creative Nonfiction

We invite applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing, (Creative Nonfiction). We seek a student-focused teacher and writer of creative nonfiction to join a thriving English major with concentrations in creative writing and the environmental humanities for both majors and minors. Our program sponsors a literary festival, a long-standing visiting writers’ series, community readings, the Kristina Stahl Writer-in-Residence Program, and the Jennifer Jahrling Forese Writer-in-Residence Program. We support students who edit two literary magazines and who engage actively in service learning and interdisciplinary partnerships. Our students benefit from an innovative curriculum with such offerings as short forms, documentary radio, and environmental writing. Among the fields of secondary expertise, we welcome writing for the screen, environmental literature, and / or journalism. Colby is a highly selective liberal arts college recognized for excellence in undergraduate education and close student-faculty interaction. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their creative activity, teaching, and service, will promote diversity at Colby. 


For this position we seek a creative nonfiction writer with undergraduate teaching experience and at least one book. Teaching responsibilities will include creative nonfiction workshops and one W1 writing-intensive course for first-year students. We also encourage innovative offerings.
