Assistant Professor of Spanish - Instructional (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Temple University in Philadelphia invites applications for a non-tenure-track position (with the possibility of renewal) in Spanish to begin in January or August of 2023. This position is a renewable nine-month non-tenure line appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor-Instructional. Candidates should hold a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics, Hispanic Literature or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with strong evidence of excellence in language teaching at the university level. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the start date and should possess native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.

Experience in teaching Spanish for the Professions courses (Spanish for Business, Spanish for Health Professions, Spanish for Legal Professions, etc.) and/or in language coordination highly desirable. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate level based on department needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics or Hispanic Literature, or related fields.
  • Native-level fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience and or expertise in teaching all levels of Spanish language
