The newly-established Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies is an innovative program eager to enhance curricular diversity and expand our existing strengths in critical race studies as well as research and teaching related to diaspora and race, ethnic and religious minorities, immigration, and gender/sexuality. We are seeking to hire an assistant professor with expertise in Transcultural Black European Studies and with fluency in at least one of the main language traditions of the department (French, German, Italian, and/or Scandinavian languages). In addition to literary studies, successful candidates may work in film, translation, visual culture, media studies, and/or any area of the experimental humanities (digital, environmental, medical, urban, or public humanities). A PhD in a humanities field is required. Appointment effective as of 7/1/2023.
