Assistant, Associate or full Professor of Spanish

Position Description:

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University seeks to appoint two tenure-line or tenured faculty in Spanish over a two-year period and invites applications from scholars who work substantively in the following areas: (1) colonial Latin American literature and culture or (2) post-Independence Latin American literature and culture. We are particularly interested in applicants able to complement and expand our current expertise in Spanish and Portuguese. The Department is committed to conducting a globally broad and inclusive search for candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the excellence of our academic community. 

 

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. is required, but we will accept applications from doctoral students expected to fulfill their Ph.D. degree requirements by July 1, 2023

 

Application Instructions:  Review of applications will begin Dec. 1, 2022. The application process will be through Interfolio and will consist of a cover letter, CV, research statement, and writing sample. Three (3) letters of recommendation are required for applicants at the Assistant level; letters are recommended, but not required, of applicants at the Associate level, and optional for those at full Professor rank.
