English (Writing Studies), Tenure-Track Faculty

The Department of English at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2023. The position is contingent upon funding.

The successful candidate will teach advanced undergraduate courses in Writing Studies (e.g., cultural rhetorics, public rhetorics, digital writing, technical &professional writing) both within the English Department and a new major in Public Writing and Rhetoric; first-year writing courses in MTSU’s General Education English Program; and graduate-level courses that are part of the Department of English's MA and PhD programs. The successful candidate will also have a leadership role in expanding the writing curriculum and must maintain an active research agenda within Writing Studies.

A terminal degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Communication, or a related field is required by the appointment date.

Candidates with any or all of the following will receive special consideration:

• A research agenda related to matters of equity, inclusion, or sustainability

• Experience/interest in writing program administration

• Experience with professional writing and/or technical communication

• Demonstrated experience teaching in a variety of modalities (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, remote synchronous, online asynchronous)
