Assistant Professor of Practice of French

The Assistant Professor of Practice of French position is a three-year, non-tenure-track appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on performance and institutional need. The course load is 3/3 with a one course reduction per semester for serving as Language Program Director. Responsibilities include coordinating beginning and intermediate level French course, advising students, participating in and/or leading extra-curricular activities, and performing administrative duties. Knowledge of current trends in second language pedagogy and instructional design is preferred. A superior level proficiency in French is required, and an interest in French culture to structure language teaching around intersections with French literature, music, cinema, and the Arts is a plus.  

Qualifications

Qualifications: PhD in French or Applied Linguistics required, awarded by August 15, 2023, native or near-native command of French and English as well as documented success in teaching French language courses at introductory and intermediate levels. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to contribute to the growth of the program.
