Senior Lecturer in German Language

Position Description

The Department of German, Russian, and East European Studies invites applications for a Senior Lecturer in German Language. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable appointment with an initial term of three years. The teaching load is three courses per semester.


Our ideal candidate is committed to student-centered Communicative Language Teaching; will conduct and develop German language courses at all levels of instruction; has experience in teaching German for the Professions (business, engineering, sustainability, etc.); is eager to support our program’s outreach and recruitment efforts; and is deeply committed to equitable and inclusive teaching and working with a diverse student population.

Application Instructions

For full consideration, applications must be received by December 12, 2022. Preliminary interviews will be held in the second half of January. For initial application, please submit cover letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference (at least two of which address language teaching), and a teaching portfolio (including a teaching statement, a diversity statement, two sample syllabi, and and course evaluations covering the three most recent academic years). Successful candidates must have their Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2023 and demonstrate at least three years of excellence in language teaching.
