Assistant Professor, Spanish

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona seeks applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure track) of Spanish with specialization in Border Studies literatures and cultures and or Chicanx/Latinx Literary and Cultural Studies to begin August 2023. Candidates whose teaching and research interests encompass transnational border politics, migration and border crossings, borderlands, and/or transnational US Latinx Literary and Cultural Studies, and whose work is innovative and widely transdisciplinary, are encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to work with colleagues inside and outside the Department to strengthen these areas across the campus. Teaching duties include undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate´s particular area of interest and across the undergraduate and graduate Spanish curriculum. Candidates should also possess the willingness to develop and teach courses in the University´s General Education curriculum, and to actively recruit undergraduate Spanish majors and graduate students. Candidates should provide evidence of scholarly achievement or significant scholarly potential, and evidence of teaching excellence, including Spanish classes. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish is required. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Spanish or a related discipline by the time of the appointment.
