Assistant Professor of Early Modern British Literature--Tenure-track

Job Description:

The English Department at Wittenberg University seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor specializing in early modern British literature beginning August 1, 2023.  Wittenberg is committed to attracting and retaining highly qualified individuals who collectively reflect the diversity of our student body and society at-large. The teaching load is six courses annually; teaching responsibilities will include courses in early modern British literature, introductory literature, introduction to literary studies, first-year seminar, and a British/global Anglophone survey. Desirable additional teaching areas include early modern race studies, global Shakespeare, and advanced writing specialties (for example, narrative medicine, screenwriting, digital humanities).

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in early modern British literature is required; candidates that are ABD working toward Ph.D. completion will be considered. Candidates must have a strong commitment and interest in teaching in a liberal arts and sciences context.
