ROLE of the POSITION

The Department of English at UNLV is searching for a writer of Literary Nonfiction, broadly defined, to join the faculty of its established Creative Writing International program. Areas and genres of interest include (but are not limited to) writing about race, gender, immigration, science, and the environment, as well as memoir, the personal essay and biography. Creative Writing at UNLV is closely affiliated with the Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute (BMI), an international literary center at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. BMI brings writers and the literary imagination intothe heart of public life through live experiences, fellowships, innovative media, and literary activism. BMI hosts two fellowship programs, notably City of Asylum, which provides safe haven to writers who have been persecuted for their literary work. These fellows, along with Shearing fellows, join a thriving and diverse community of writers in residence at BMI.

UNLV is the most racially and ethnically diverse campus in the United States, so candidates who demonstrate proven engagement with diversity and inclusion, and experience with BIPOC and/or ethnic studies are strongly encouraged to apply. As we are an international program, a globally-engaged writer is desired. Our creative writing program houses the literary journals Witness and Interim and participates actively with Las Vegas and its literary community.
