Fields of particular interest include fiction, poetry, nonfiction, drama, oral storytelling, stage and screen writing, digital and graphic forms. Demonstrated work across media — particularly with music or visual arts — would be an asset, as would experience and interest in the interactions between the arts and society. The successful candidate must have a national or international reputation as a creative writer. They will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research/and or creative professional activity at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

Evidence of excellence in teaching creative writing will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.

Candidates are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment, demonstrated through the application materials.

This position offers the opportunity to teach and to practice creative writing in a department and a college that are committed to supporting their Creative Writing Programs in the general context of the study of English literatures in both their historical depth and geographical range, and in the context of creativity studies across other arts and disciplines.
