Faculty Position in the Department of English

The Department of English seeks full-time faculty members to teach academic writing courses at American University of Sharjah starting in Fall 2023. Candidates should have a master’s degree (PhD preferred) in a relevant area including rhetoric and composition, applied linguistics, English, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), TESOL or a closely related field, and a specialization and interest in academic writing.

Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to excellence in developing academic literacy and evidence of scholarship in this area. Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ experience teaching composition or academic writing in North American-style higher education. Overseas teaching experience is an advantage as is experience with writing program administration.

Successful candidates will have a strong record of excellence in teaching and a demonstrated commitment to productive institutional service.
