The Department of Germanic & Slavic Studies at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position to begin August 1, 2023. We seek a candidate whose research focuses on 20th or 21st century German culture studies. Specialization in one or more of the following areas is particularly welcome: transnationalism; environmental humanities; German-Jewish studies; gender studies. Successful candidates will have a strong research background and evidence of excellence in teaching. Teaching includes two courses per semester at all levels of the undergraduate and German (M.A.) program. Native or near-native proficiency in German and English are required. A PhD in German studies or a closely related field is required at time of appointment. To be eligible for the rank of Associate Professor with tenure upon appointment, candidates must have been awarded tenure at a prior institution, and they must bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.
