Instructional Assistant Professor - Spanish Language Program

The Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Houston invites applications for a position at the level of Instructional Assistant Professor, non-tenure track (promotion eligible), to direct our first- and second-year Spanish Language Program beginning August 2023.

The position requires training and/or experience in Spanish language acquisition, theory, practice, and pedagogy. Experience in heritage language education a plus. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Spanish linguistics with a strong emphasis in the areas previously mentioned, will have teaching and administrative experience at the university level, and native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English. High expertise in technology is preferred. Main duties include course design, implementation, assessment, hiring, supervising, and evaluating TAs and lecturers, as well as coordinating with the Undergraduate Spanish Program, the Language Commons, and other units of the Department. Teaching responsibilities will be one course per semester (at both the graduate and undergraduate levels).
